Corporate Communications Intern, Spring 2018

In 1998 we started our first website, PromGirl.com, with a simple premise: people should have access to the top special occasion dresses and they should be able to shop for them online.

Fast forward to 2017 and Occasion Brands has become the leading special occasion retailer online with two brands - PromGirl and SimplyDresses. We are growing and have plans to introduce new special occasion stores online under the Occasion Brands umbrella. We’re also bringing the PromGirl experience offline as we make preparations to open up a pop-up store in 2018.

The Occasion Brands Communications Team is seeking Communications Interns for the Spring 2018 semester. This is the perfect opportunity for an aspiring entrepreneur looking for exposure to the inner workings of a fashion and technology company. As a member of our nimble team, you will have an immediate impact on our business and see your ideas comes to life and your contributions put to immediate use. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • COMMUNICATIONS
    • Draft/distribute internal content, including memos, staff newsletters, blog posts, internal social media platforms
  • CULTURE
    • Brainstorm/facilitate cultural initiatives that boost morale, encourage communication and foster engagement (contests, events etc.)
    • Dream up initiatives, processes, ideas that positively affect culture and environment of company
  • OPERATIONS
    • Coordinate charitable giving program
    • Conduct ad hoc research assignments as needed
    • Attend meetings (virtual, in person) as needed, keep minutes and list of action items, distribute minutes and enter action items into Asana

Specific qualifications we are looking for include:

  • Someone who takes initiative and is an independent, creative problem solver
  • Excellent communication skills with a penchant for writing
  • Works well under pressure and uses good judgment when interpreting instructions
  • Must have the ability to multi-task
  • Enthusiastic and excited to work with a team
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

INTERNSHIP DETAILS:

  • Compensation
    • College credit and a small monthly travel stipend
  • Program Dates
    • The spring semester runs January 29th-May 11th but start/end dates are flexible
  • Scheduling
    • Typical internships are 15-18 hours/week over 2-3 days
