In 1998 we started our first website, PromGirl.com, with a simple premise: people should have access to the top special occasion dresses and they should be able to shop for them online.

Fast forward to 2017 and Occasion Brands has become the leading special occasion retailer online with two brands - PromGirl and SimplyDresses.

We’re growing and have plans to introduce new special occasion stores online under the Occasion Brands umbrella. We’re also bringing the PromGirl experience offline as we set our eyes on opening a pop-up store in 2018.

While much has changed in the last 19 years, the original values on which we were founded have stayed the same: working together as a team and doing whatever it takes to deliver a positive customer experience. We are looking for the people who will help make the next 19 years just as innovative as our first 19.

BACKGROUND:

DESCRIPTION:

The Occasion Brands Operations Team is seeking an Operations Intern for the Summer 2018 semester. This is the perfect opportunity for an aspiring entrepreneur looking to gain a 360 degree view of how a fashion and technology company operates. As a member of our nimble team you will have an immediate impact on our business and see your ideas comes to life and your contributions put to immediate use. If you are an independent, creative problem solver and like to laugh, Occasion Brands is the place for you.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in day-to-day activities of NYC office operations shadowing the Office Manager to accomplish a wide range of tasks that span many departments across the organization
Dream up new ideas and strategies that deliver sparkle to our employees and customers and encourage them to "Keep Calm and Think Prom"
Work on projects with fellow interns to help better our company and its relation to our customers
Communicate between departments to help the office operate at it’s absolute best
Read the Teen Vogue Woke Letter, Women’s Wear Daily and other fashion and beauty publications to keep current in all things teen and trendy
Do weekly research on teen trends, slang, pop culture and more in order to share with the whole office
Keep stock of office supplies and order as needed. In operations, it’s about solving problems before they start

DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Works well under pressure and uses good judgement when interpreting instructions
Someone who takes initiative and is an independent, creative problem solver
Must have the ability to multi-task
Enthusiastic and excited to work with a team
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

INTERNSHIP DETAILS:

TERM: June - August 2018 (start and end dates are flexible)
SCHEDULE: Flexible (typical internships are 15-18 hours/week)
COMPENSATION: College credit with a small travel stipend
