In 1998 we started our first website, PromGirl.com, with a simple premise: people should have access to the top special occasion dresses and they should be able to shop for them online.

Fast forward to 2017 and Occasion Brands has become the leading special occasion retailer online with two brands - PromGirl and SimplyDresses.

We’re growing and have plans to introduce new special occasion stores online under the Occasion Brands umbrella. We’re also bringing the PromGirl experience offline as we set our eyes on opening a pop-up store in 2018.

While much has changed in the last 19 years, the original values on which we were founded have stayed the same: working together as a team and doing whatever it takes to deliver a positive customer experience. We are looking for the people who will help make the next 19 years just as innovative as our first 19.

DESCRIPTION:

The Occasion Brands Merchandising Team is seeking a Merchandising Intern for the Summer 2018 semester. This is the perfect opportunity for a hands on person looking to learn the ins and outs of merchandising at an ecommerce company. As a member of our nimble team you will have an immediate impact on our business and see your ideas comes to life and your contributions put to immediate use. If you are an independent, creative problem solver and like to laugh, Occasion Brands is the place for you.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in day-to-day activities of merchandising team, liaise with vendors and collaborate with other departments to deliver the best possible customer experience
Work with merchandising team to make our selection of styles as inspiring as possible
Keep tabs on other retailers to see what awesome fashions they are stocking for their customers (especially dresses!)
Assist with running various reports to analyze sales data
Attend and record vendor meetings with buyers to purchase and analyze sales
Research and develop an understanding of competitor strategies and business models
Assist the photo shoot team with daily responsibilities including measuring, recording style data, styling, packing and unpacking samples, organizing shoots, etc.

Ability to remain calm under pressure and use good judgement when interpreting instructions
Someone who takes initiative and is an independent, creative problem solver
Multitasking skills
Enthusiastic and excited to work with a team
Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
Strong sense of fashion and interest in styling and visuals
Understanding of textiles and fabric knowledge
Ability to adapt to new projects and collaborate with various teams/team members

INTERNSHIP DETAILS:

TERM: June - August 2018 (start and end dates are flexible)
SCHEDULE: Flexible (typical internships are 15-18 hours/week)
COMPENSATION: College credit with a small travel stipend
