Social Media Intern (Spring 2019)

In 1998 we started our first website,, with a simple premise: people should have access to the top special occasion dresses and they should be able to shop for them online.

Fast forward to 2018 and Occasion Brands has become the leading special occasion retailer online with three brands: PromGirl, Simply Dresses, and Kleinfeld Bridal Party. We are growing and have plans to introduce new special occasion stores online under the Occasion Brands umbrella. We also recently brought the PromGirl experience offline by opening our first store in 2018 (not to mention our Kleinfeld Bridal Party Showroom inside the Kleinfeld Bridal Salon in NYC!).

The Occasion Brands Marketing Team is seeking a Social Media Intern for the Spring 2019 semester. This is the perfect opportunity for a hands on person to learn the ins, outs and everything in between in the world of fashion, technology and social media. As a member of our nimble team, you will have an immediate impact on our business and see your ideas comes to life and your contributions put to immediate use. Prior experience with scheduling social media posts is a plus, but not required. If you are an independent, creative problem solver and like to laugh, Occasion Brands is the place for you.


  • Assist in developing content calendars on a weekly and monthly basis for company brands (PromGirl, Simply Dresses & Kleinfeld Bridal Party)
  • Monitor analytics with social media team to identify areas of improvement & constantly provide ideas for growth
  • Assist in create engaging social media content for various platforms, including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Snapchat
  • Assist in the general distribution of social media content, including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest
  • Develop and manage a community engagement and outreach strategy ( Strategy to include: replying to all comments, engaging with followers, tracking influencer postings etc)


  • Strong communication skills that are consistent and clear!
  • Enthusiastic and excited to work with a team!
  • Experience and knowledge of all social media platforms
  • MUST have some familiarity with third party social media management platforms
  • Savvy with Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Working knowledge of Google Docs
  • Has the ability to create a great Instastory!

TERM:  January 2019-May 2019 (start and end dates are flexible)
SCHEDULE:  15-18 hours per week
COMPENSATION:  College credit with a small travel stipend
